Test Material

General notes
The corresponding materials for taking samples are provided by the laboratory.

Unstable analytes (e.g. potassium, glucose, blood coagulation and blood count parameters) should not be left standing over the weekend. Either separate the serum or the plasma and freeze. If necessary, consult the laboratory.

Sample storage

  • 7 days for serum samples
  • 1 day for citrate samples
  • 1 day for EDTA samples

It is no problem at all for us to handle additional requests for sample results within the retention times!

Serum
The separation of serum is usually not required if the test is performed within the following 8 hours. For samples due to arrive at night, at weekends or on public holidays, please consult the laboratory in advance.

In case of delivery by post we generally recommend separating the serum or plasma.
For special tests, please centrifuge the blood at 3000 revolutions per minute for 10 minutes after coagulation has occurred (about 15 to 30 minutes after blood collection), separate the serum, and transfer it into suitable vessels (request via the laboratory
Phone: +49 (0)30 /44 33 64-200) and store it at appropriate temperatures.

Citrate, heparin, EDTA blood and plasma
After collecting these samples, please be sure to always mix them well (swing the container 5 to 10 times, but do not shake the container) so as to prevent the activation of coagulation (pre-analytical error).
For special tests (see notes on the individual parameters), please centrifuge the sample for 10 minutes at 3000 RPM. Remove the supernatant liquid with a pipette and transfer it into appropriate containers (request via the laboratory, Phone: +49 (0)30 / 44 33 64-200) and store it at the specified temperatures.

Materials for microbiological analyses
We will provide you with the materials for submitting your samples. These materials are stored at room temperature (up to 25 ┬░C); see Microbiology.
