Molecular biology (PCR): Materials for Sampling

Swab (thick) tube with red cap
Swab (thin) tube with orange cap

Use: For molecular biological detection of pathogens (PCR), such as
Bordetella pertussis / parapertussis, HSV (herpes simplex viruses),
VZV (varicella zoster virus), influenza A/B virus H1N1,
virus diagnostics, swine flu PCR.

Both transport tubes (red and orange cap) contain the same transport medium. The swab sets only differ in the size of the enclosed swabs („thick” or „thin”).
Depending on the type and size of the sampling location, either the thick (red cap) or the thin (orange cap) swab is used.

Note: For molecular diagnostics to test for Chlamydia trachomatis and/or gonococcal infections, along with HPV, please continue to use the sampling systems you are familiar with.

HPV cervical smear for women (with transport vessel)

Use: Detection of HPV strains: HPV DNA test, high risk group, HPV DNA, low risk group

HPV smear for men (flocked nylon swab and transport vessel)

Use:Detection of HPV strains: HPV DNA test, high risk group, HPV DNA, low risk group

Diagnostic kit to detect Chlamydia trachomatis and Neisseria gonorrhoeae in urine samples or vaginal and cervical smears

Use:Urine and swabs for Chlamydia and/or gonococcal infection PCR

Tubes for PCA3 assay (prostate cancer detection)

Use:PCA3 detection (prostate cancer gene 3) positive tumour cells in the urine

7.5 ml EDTA tubes (KABE)
9 ml EDTA tubes (Greiner)

Use:Detection of pathogens (quantitative) using PCR (e.g. HIV, HCV, HBV), human genetic tests, HLA diagnostics

9 ml CPDA tubes (KABE)
9 ml CPDA tubes (Greiner)

Lithium heparin Primavette, 7.5 ml (KABE)
Lithium heparin Vacuette, 9 ml (Greiner)

Use:QuantiFERON® TB test, LTT (lymphocyte transformation test), chromosome analyses
