Microbiology: Materials for Sampling

Swabs (thick) with red cap
Swabs (thin) with orange cap

Use:For culture-based detection of pathogens (causative organisms and resistance) and special tests for:
- Screening for multi-drug resistant pathogens (MRSA, VRE, 3/4MRGN)
- Anaerobes
- Gonococcal infections
- Mycoplasma and ureaplasma.
Both transport tubes (red and orange cap) contain the same transport medium. The swab sets only differ in the size of the enclosed swabs („thick” or „thin”).
Depending on the type and size of sampling location, either the thick swab (red cap) or the thin swab (orange cap) is used.

For molecular diagnostics to test for Chlamydia trachomatis and/or gonococcal infections, along with HPV, please continue to use the sampling systems you are familiar with.

Blood culture bottle, aerobic, anaerobic

Use:Blood culture diagnosis to determine the sensitivity of pathogens
for blood cultures, cerebrospinal fluid and other aspirates from primarily sterile body cavities

Microscope slide bag for two microscope slides

Use:For making preparations from original materials

Portagerm® pylori (unfilled, chilled at 2 °C - 8 °C)

Use:Biopsy material for Helicobacter pylori culture (resistance determination)

Sputum vessel with sleeve

Use:Detection of pathogens from respiratory secretions for sputum, tracheal secretions for pathogens TBC

Tubes, neutral glass with cap

Use:For skin flakes, nails and hair, aspirates and secretions

Stool sampling tubes with spatula

Use:Test for pathogenic intestinal bacteria, worms, worm components

Stool sampling tubes with transport medium (Cary Blair medium)

Use:For testing the physiological flora in the gut (intestinal flora analysis)

Stool sample vial to hold the stool sample and stool collection device

Verwendung:Immunochemical faecal occult blood test (iFOBT), colorectal cancer screening

Urine Monovette without stabiliser

Use:Native urine, transport times < 4 h
Detection of pathogens and resistance (P+R) in urine sample cultures

Urine Monovette with stabiliser

Use:Native urine for longer transport times (> 4 h)
Detection of pathogens for urinary tract infections in cultures

Urine beakers, sterile (30-50 ml)

Use:Test for tuberculosis

We will provide you with the materials for sample submission. These materials are stored at room temperature (up to 25 °C).
